Core and Optional Benefits — It starts with a set of core benefits that are provided by Media General, and continues with a variety of optional benefits that give employees the opportunity to design a package that meets their needs. Media General is continually evaluating the plan to be sure we provide a competitive benefits package for employees.Health and Welfare Programs — Comprehensive medical and dental expense coverage and a routine vision care program. There are also health care and dependent care spending accounts.
Insurance Programs — Comprehensive insurance package including employee and dependent group term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and short- and long-term disability income protection.
Professional Development — We also provide opportunities for training for technical and non-technical skills.
Personal and Family Counseling Assistance — Media General offers employees and their families confidential counseling services to help address personal problems that affect your health, family life or job performance.
Planning Services — This is an optional benefit that an employee can purchase to receive services which provide assistance with a variety of legal and financial issues.
Vacation — Two weeks in year one, three weeks after your 3rd January 1st , four weeks after your 10th January 1st and five weeks for employees who have been with the company for more than 20 January 1st.
MG Advantage 401(k) Plan —The MG Advantage Plan is administered by Fidelity Investments, with 24-hour online access to account information and a variety of financial planning tools. You can choose from a variety of investment funds, including the Media General Stock fund. You are eligible to enroll in the 401(k) within 30 days from the date of hire. There is a 2 year cliff vesting period.
