TAMPA, Fla. — Media General's Broadcast Division has promoted Steve Gleason to vice president of programming and program development.

Gleason joined the Company in 1987 and was most recently director of programming for the Broadcast Division. He previously served as program director at WFLA-TV in Tampa, and before that he was program director at WCBD-TV in Charleston, S.C.

In his new role, Gleason will be responsible for program strategy development, syndication acquisition and negotiation, and local program development, as well as identifying and coordinating initiatives with programming cooperatives and broadcast station consortiums.

"Steve has done an outstanding job for us as director of programming, and this promotion is in recognition of his excellent work," said Broadcast Division President James A. Zimmerman. "I am confident that he will be equally as successful as he assumes his new responsibilities."
